Project Details

The Port of Ashburton is located approximately 10 km west of Onslow, Western Australia. The Onslow Iron Ore Project (OIP) Port Facility development area is located within Pilbara Port Authorities Eastern Planning Precinct and is connected to the mines via a haul road approximately 147 km in length.

The OIP is a new facility for extraction, processing and shipping operations, within the existing Shire of Ashburton, to export iron ore. Centrals’ were contracted to complete the following key works:

Port Marine Infrastructure

  • Approach jetty abutment
  • Approach jetty ramp

Port Landside – Materials Handling

  • Workshop warehouse
  • Truck unloading shed/vault
  • Low lying drive-in sump
  • CV01 conveyor tunnel
  • Conveyor CV01, including; belt reeling/splicing station, trestles, gravity take up and transfer station
  • Conveyor CV03, including; belt reeling/splicing, low-level and mid-level modules, trestles, drive station, gravity take up and transfer station
  • Conveyor CV04, including; trestles and sampling station
  • Dust collectors for product storage and reclaim
  • Power station and high voltage substation
  • Inloading switchroom and transformers
  • Outloading switchroom and transformers
  • Miscellaneous non-process infrastructure, including; tank farm, fuel farm, administration and labratory buildings, etc.
  • Accommodation facilities (Yarri Camp)
  • Truck maintenance facility, including; heavy vehicle (HV)/light vehicle (LV) maintenance workshop and warehouse, HV and LV wash down bays, refuelling facility, tank farm and administration buildings
