Centrals’ have successfully completed the construction and installation of seven Enercon E40 wind turbines, battery systems and diesel generators at Australian Garnet’s Lucky Bay Process Plant, located near Kalbarri in midwest Western Australia.
Centrals’, who originally constructed the process plant for Australian Garnet, finished commissioning the wind turbine project in October 2023. The wind turbines enable the diesel-off operation of site power systems when practical and maximise the utilisation of wind power and battery systems.
"We are extremely proud to have purchased, installed and recently commissioned our seven wind turbines. This is an excellent achievement for our company and will assist us in reducing the usage of diesel on the Australian Garnet – Lucky Bay project"
Andrew Ellison – RDG Managing Director
Phase 3 of the project, which is anticipated to accommodate an extra load of 4MW, will include additional generators, wind turbines, and a second Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). It will supply power to the Mining Unit Plant (MUP), Wet Concentration Plant (WCP), booster pumps, non-process infrastructure, and borefields.
